About 

Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) is a nationalised government scheme targeted towards people who don't have access to insurance policies such as Accidental Insurance.As of May 2015, only 20% of India's population has any kind of insurance, this scheme aims to increase the number. This scheme was launched on 9th may 2015 by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.

Under this scheme,

1. In case of accidental death or full disability, the payment to the nominee will be ₹2 lakh (US$3,000) 
2. in case of partial Permanent disability ₹1 lakh(US$1,500). Full disability has been defined as loss of use in both eyes, hands or feet. Partial Permanent disability has been defined as loss of use in one eye, hand or foot.

As of 24 April 2017, 10 crore people have already enrolled for this scheme. 9,705 claims have been disbursed against 12,975 claims received.

To apply for Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, an application is to be filled with the bank in which you have your saving account. You can also visit http://www.jansuraksha.gov.in/FORMS.aspx to download the forms. In some banks, we can also apply though net-banking and mobile banking.

4. Cancelled Cheque and NEFT Mandate form of Nominee.

At the time of Disability
1. Duly completed PMSBY form signed by the insured
2. Attested copy of disability certificate from civil surgeon of government hospital stating percentage of disability.
3. Attested copy of FIR/Panchanama/Inquest Panchanama,
4. Cancelled cheque and NEFT mandate form signed by the insured.

Q 9.  Are NRIs eligible to join Pradhn Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY)?
Ans. Yes. NRIs can also join the scheme.

Q 10. Can individuals who leave Pradhan mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) rejoin?
Ans. Yes, Individuals who exit the scheme may re-join the scheme in future years by paying the annual premium and submitting a self declaration of good health.
